What's On Pittsburgh · Weekend
Good morning, Pittsburgh!
The Strip District gets a free pumpkin patch this weekend, and the pumpkins are the size of small cars. Saturday and Sunday at 3 Crossings, Atlantic Giants past 3,000 pounds, two pumpkin pool drops a day.
Saturday is the full day: a free witchcraft lecture on the South Side, glass pumpkins you blow yourself in Friendship, two improv teams Downtown for $15, and an Afro-Caribbean DJ night in Lawrenceville.
Both the Pens and the Steelers are on the road, so the lights are on in Oakland instead: Pitt hosts North Carolina on Friday.
Let's get to it!

★ WEEKEND PICK
🎃 Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival
The Stacks at 3 Crossings · Strip District · Sat and Sun 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. · Free entry
Railroad Street between 28th and 29th fills with Atlantic Giants on Saturday and Sunday, the breed that holds the world record at 3,156 pounds. Admission is free and so is nearly everything inside: a carving competition between three of the country's top gourd artists, live glassblowing demos and a pie eating contest at 3:30. Food and the carriage rides are the two things that cost.
Why go: It is the one free thing this weekend that works as well with a toddler as with a hangover, and it runs ten to six both days.
