WHAT'S ON PITTSBURGH · MIDWEEK
Happy Monday.
Three of the eight picks below are free, and the free ones are not the leftovers.
Tuesday has Elvis calling bingo numbers in Allentown and the last New Brighton Night Mart of the year.
Wednesday is the quiet day: a free sound installation downtown and an early, calm hour at the zoo.
Thursday is the big one, with a horror film in real fog, Emily Graslie on curiosity, free jazz and the History Center open late.
Let's get to it!

★ MIDWEEK PICK
🎬 The Fog with Live Fog at the Pop-Up
EEBC Pop-Up · Manchester · 7:00 PM · $10, or $15 with a drink
Keylight is screening John Carpenter's The Fog at East End Brewing's pop-up in Manchester, and running fog machines through the room while it plays. Eighty nine minutes of coastal ghost story, and the gimmick is the right call: Carpenter shot the whole film inside a fog bank, so you are only finishing the job. Ten dollars in, fifteen with a beer, and the brewery opens at four if you want to make a night of it.
Why go: Ten dollars to watch a horror film inside the weather it is about, which is a better Thursday than most.
Tuesday
TUESDAY, OCT 13
🎲 Elvis Bingo
Bottlerocket Social Hall · Allentown · 7:30 PM · $5
An Elvis impersonator works the room at Bottlerocket while a host named Grace tries to keep the bingo on the rails. Five dollars, all ages, doors at five and numbers from seven thirty.
Why go: Five dollars is the correct price for watching Elvis call bingo numbers in Allentown.
TUESDAY, OCT 13
🛍️ New Brighton Night Mart
New Brighton · 5:00 PM
New Brighton's street market takes over Third Avenue with food, vendors and live music, second Tuesday of the month from May through October. This is the last one until spring.
Why go: Beaver County, about thirty five minutes northwest, and worth the drive for a season closer.
Wednesday
WEDNESDAY, OCT 14
🎨 Hprizm: Sound of the City
Wood Street Galleries · Downtown · 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM · Free
Hprizm built a sound installation out of field recordings from Pittsburgh's riverfronts, mills, churches and transit corridors, layered with vinyl, tape loops and synthesis. Open Wednesday to Sunday, closed one to one thirty.
Why go: Twenty minutes in a free gallery listening to your own city, which is a strange and good thing to do.
WEDNESDAY, OCT 14
🦓 Sensory Friendly Mornings at the Zoo
Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium · Highland Park · 8:00 AM
The zoo opens an hour and a half early for families with sensory processing needs, eight to nine, quiet and nearly empty. Buy a daytime entry ticket ahead and it covers the whole day.
Why go: If crowds are the thing that ends your zoo trip early, this is the version that works.
